You’re the one that I want! Ooh honey! You’re the one that I want!

I love the movie Grease.

Rizzo is my RBF spirit animal.

Rizzo picked Kenicke.
Sandy picked Danny.

And guess what?
You're allowed to pick too.

If all your clients aren't a full body fuck yes—this one's for you.

TLDR: Picking Your People

  • Your people aren't anyone and everyone.

  • Your people are a full body fuck yes.

  • You are allowed to want what you want.

  • What's blocking you from your ideal client?

  • Brainstorm that shit with journal prompts.

Picking Your People

"Well, I think these are the people who will work with me, so...”

I used to believe that. That my ideal client was whoever would have me.

And nowadays, I hear that shit from my own clients.

BABE.

Your ideal client isn't whoever shows up on your doorstep.

You're a business owner,
not a Good Samaritan.

YOUR ideal fucking client isn't:
  • “good enough.”
  • someone you “could” help.
  • or you “should” help.

They're the clients:
  • who energize you
  • you're excited to hear from.
  • helping your business thrive.

Remember: choosing your ideal client is about more than money. Your time and energy are even more valuable.

Because if you're bleeding time and energy, you're bleeding money too.

You Already Know, Babe

You know what you want. Even if it’s buried somewhere deep—you know.

And you're allowed to want what you want. FULL STOP.

You’re not being selfish.
You’re not asking for too much.

But pursuing what you want can go against a lifetime of expectations. And that's especially true when you’re neurodivergent.

You were taught early on
  • your wants were inconvenient.
  • you shouldn’t ask for too much.
  • to be grateful for what you get.
Over time you get real good at adapting, masking and making yourself small.

I know watering yourself down might have kept you safe while growing up—it's a reality for a lot of us.

But this isn't forcing down non-safe foods because you're too young to cook dinner and don't want to get yelled at.

In business, denying your needs and wants doesn't keep you safe.

It keeps you stuck.

I promise, you don’t have to prove anything or “pay your dues” with shit clients before you can work with who you want.

This might be tough to hear, but…

No one's keeping you
from what you want but you.

Untangling It

If you're struggling to nail down your ideal client or working with anyone and everyone, good news!

You can start small.

I want you to do three things. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

1) Ask yourself why you aren't working with the people you want.
  • You haven't identified them?
  • You're afraid they'll reject you?
  • You're afraid to niche too much?
Once you start pulling on that thread, keep asking why until you get to the root cause.

Name it.

2) Create the affirmation you need.
  • I am allowed to want what I want.
  • I don't have to justify what I want.
  • I get to work with who I choose

Whatever you need to hear. Or the little kid version of you needed to hear.

Write it down. Put it somewhere you'll see it and read it out loud at least once a day.

3) Get really honest with what you want as you brainstorm your ideal, fuck yes client.

  • Who are they?
  • What do they need?
  • Why do you enjoy them?

Once you know, you can light the beacons to bring them in.

Remember: you don't have to empty your current client roster right now.

But as you take on more ideal clients, you can let those old relationships wind down as needed.
