You Already Know, BabeÂ
Â
You know what you want. Even if it’s buried somewhere deep—you know.
Â
And you're allowed to want what you want. FULL STOP.
Â
You’re not being selfish.Â
You’re not asking for too much.
Â
But pursuing what you want can go against a lifetime of expectations. And that's especially true when you’re neurodivergent.
Â
You were taught early on
- your wants were inconvenient.
- you shouldn’t ask for too much.
- to be grateful for what you get.
Over time you get real good at adapting, masking and making yourself small.
Â
I know watering yourself down might have kept you safe while growing up—it's a reality for a lot of us.
Â
But this isn't forcing down non-safe foods because you're too young to cook dinner and don't want to get yelled at.Â
In business, denying your needs and wants doesn't keep you safe.
Â
It keeps you stuck. Â
Â
Â
I promise, you don’t have to prove anything or “pay your dues” with shit clients before you can work with who you want.
Â
This might be tough to hear, but…
Â
No one's keeping youÂ
from what you want but you.
