Good morning, friends! I don't even know how many cups of coffee I've had this morning (because somebody woke me up EARLY grrrrr……) but go get yours and let's catch up! I was wired for sound but I'm starting to drag a bit so I see an afternoon nap in my future!
I traveled to Charleston this past week for some work stuff and got to finally meet one of my oldest food blogger buddies after knowing her online over TEN YEARS. If you don't know Brandie from The Country Cook, give her a visit! She cooks a lot of easy dinner stuff like I do and has tons of crock pot meals. Oh! And she is the poke cake QUEEN!
It was a pleasant 84 degrees in Charleston (seriously, that's pretty cool for this time of year) and I got tickled watching the tourists complain about the heat. It was downright nice in the shade! So much so that I opted to walk most of the places I went if it was under a 30-minute walk. And I'm no fitness buff, it was just pretty outside!
By the way, if you've ever wanted to do the whole Charleston thing without dealing with the traffic and crowds, you ought to consider visiting Beaufort, SC instead. We love it there and go sometimes for weekends. It has the same charm but on a smaller scale. Hunting Island state park is nearby and is one of the only public natural beaches in the country. You'll feel like you've stepped back in time!
Since I was gone a good bit of the week I didn't cook much so I'll share some of my favorite Low Country recipes and the new crock pot recipe I shared this week!
