Eric and I discussed his experience with covering the recent UAC (United Astrology Conference) and what he encountered there: cancel culture and many other egregious things, including an attempt to eliminate the elders. I attended the very first one of these conferences in 1986 and four more after that. I have witnessed first hand the devolution of mainstream astrology, or what Eric calls the Astrological Industrial Complex. For those who do not know, Eric has done the most extensive research on astrology and the Covid-Con. The few of us who called this out at the start have also been cancelled. I drift between deep grief and sardonic amusement. Eric and I also share similar views on the dangers of AI to authentic person-centered astrology. |

Dane Rudhyar, my original astrological inspiration, warned of this in the early 1970s. Rudhyar was critical of centralized astrology organizations, believing they often stifled individual expression and creativity in astrology. He advocated for a more personal and holistic approach to astrology, emphasizing the importance of individual interpretation over institutional dogma. His views, summarized here, highlight the tension between institutional authority and personal practice. * Critique of Centralization — Rudhyar argued that centralized organizations could limit the diversity of astrological thought and practice. * Emphasis on Individuality — He believed that astrology should be a personal journey, allowing for unique interpretations rather than conforming to standardized methods. * Holistic Approach — Rudhyar promoted a holistic view of astrology, where the focus is on the individual's psychological and spiritual growth. * Freedom of Expression — He maintained that true astrology should empower individuals to explore their own meanings and insights, free from institutional constraints. He warned that if centralization happened, it would become like the AMA! These views I have always held and continue to hold. Enjoy our discussion. |
