Happy Friday!
(6 days left until Fall)

The day I had been dreading as a parent arrived this week. And because I'm a complete monster, I laughed in the moment my daughter was crying. And the more I laughed, the harder she cried. And the harder she cried, the cuter she looked, and the harder it was for me not to laugh. You get the point. It was not my proudest moment.

I don't even remember what we were talking about, but she asked me how old I'd be in 80 years. Without any hesitation, I told her I'd be dead. And enter complete silence. I looked at her. She looked at me. I looked at her. She looked at me. And then she erupted into a complete volcano of tears. I'm talking uncontrollable sobbing. F*ck.

She ran to my husband to confirm the devastating news that I won't be living forever. I continued to put my foot in my mouth by reassuring her that we'd soon meet again in heaven but it was like putting gasoline on a fire. Who allowed me to be a parent? This was beyond irreparable. This was worse than the day my kids cornered me about the tooth fairy.

Needless to say I was not prepared for that question, nor did I posses the amount of maturity it took for a situation like that. If you have young kids, please allow this to serve as cautionary tale to motivate you to get your house in order.

Hilarious account to follow
I discovered this guy on Tiktok, binged his stories, and ended up following him on two separate platforms. He's a hilarious storyteller, and shares stories about him and his husband.

I loved this one about his husband cheating on him in his dream and this one about how things always fall apart when you own a home. Follow him, you won't regret it.

Podcast I loved

I listened to an interview with Kendall Jenner this week and loved it. If you have the time, it's worth the listen. There are two parts that resonated with me, and the first was something Kendall said: “If your happiness depends on the actions of others, you're at mercy of things you can't control.” Ugh, felt that.

The second was a piece of wisdom regarding validation that Jay shared from Charles Horton Cooley that states, “the challenge today is I'm not what I think I am, I'm not what you think I am, I am what I think you think I am.” Meaning we can allow ourselves to live in a perception of a perception of ourselves. For example, if I think you think I am smart, then I allow myself to feel smart, or vice versa. Absolutely mind blowing.

The Squatty Potty review you've been waiting for

One minute you're young and hip, and the next you're tracking the delivery of your Squatty Potty like a child on Christmas morning. I opened the door, cut open the box, and I could hear angels singing as I pulled it out.

First let me just say, I immediately felt superior to everyone else with my legs propped up. I don't know what it was about this $19 piece of plastic, but I felt like a Queen. Second, and I'll spare you the exhaustive details, gravity DID take its course, and it was effortless. But do you want to know the most miraculous part? It's like a domino effect took place. I typically go once a day but by the time it was 11am, I had already gone three times. THREE. What is this sorcery?

And look, I know it's only been two days, but so far I give this a 10/10. And based on many of your recommendations, I just ordered myself the fancy foldable wood one.
