Happy Earth Day First name / friend!

My family and I celebrated this weekend by doing an Earth Day fundraiser run at Seal Bay (Xwee Xwhya Luq), the park I wrote about last week. It was a beautiful day and great event, hosted by Foveo Running with proceeds going to an estuary stewaredship project called Kus-Kus-Sum. The girls were excited to do their first ever 5K run (it was closer to 6K actually. I'm so proud of them). On a daily basis, I feel so grateful for the access I have to nature.

RAINBOW
A very simple and powerful way to ground yourself and connect to the earth is to co-create with nature.  Tap into your inner child for this activity!

This week I invite you to create a rainbow with natural objects like berries, leaves, rocks, flowers or feathers. If you can't find enough colours for a rainbow, you could arrange your objects in a gradient of hues ex. blue-greens through to yellow-greens.

You can curate your items into a line, circle, square, arch or pie shape (like a colour wheel).

If you are using wild things, please collect plants and flowers that have fallen. The flowers and leaves in the photo above are from my yard. When I create in wilder places, I use windfall and I leave my arrangement in the setting for someone else to discover and to let it go back to the earth.

I was delighted to find this tiny rock rainbow on a trail near the beach one day in 2022. When you create in a shared space, you never know what joy you might be bringing to another person.

How do you celebrate Earth Day? Some ideas include expressing gratitude to nature, creating in nature, donating or repurposing items during your spring clean, up-cycling, volunteering for local nature projects, fundraising for nature organizations…I'm sure you can think of many more ideas!

We'd love to see YOUR rainbows. Share a photo in our Facebook group or tag me on socials. Thanks for being a part of Mindful Mondays. Your energy brings me energy 💚 .

  May you be well,           -Nicole
