DAY 5: Audacity to Break Barriers
“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” – Galatians 3:28
Devotional:
Jesus was a barrier-breaker. He engaged with women in a culture where they were often overlooked. He spoke to the Samaritan woman at the well, ate with tax collectors, and healed on the Sabbath. He defied societal, cultural, and religious norms to bring God’s love to everyone, regardless of status, ethnicity, or background.
His audacity reminds us that the Gospel isn’t limited by human divisions. Jesus wasn’t concerned with pleasing people; He was focused on including those who had been excluded. Through His actions, He showed us that love knows no boundaries.
When we follow Jesus, we’re called to adopt that same boldness. It’s not always easy to challenge the barriers society has built, but we are empowered by Christ to see others as He sees them—worthy of love and grace. The audacity to break barriers starts with small, intentional actions: reaching out to someone different from us, standing up for the marginalized, or creating spaces where everyone feels welcome. These acts reflect the heart of Jesus and open doors for His love to shine through us.
What barriers exist in your life? Are there people you’ve unintentionally (or intentionally) excluded? Following Jesus’ example means stepping beyond comfort zones to embrace others as He did.
Reflection Question:
What step can you take to break down barriers and include someone who has been left out?
