DAY 6: Audacity to Forgive
“And Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.’” – Luke 23:34
Devotional:
As Jesus hung on the cross, beaten and mocked, He did something audacious: He forgave. He didn’t wait for an apology or for anyone to acknowledge their wrongdoing. Instead, He chose grace over bitterness, love over revenge.
Forgiveness is one of the boldest acts of faith we can practice. It requires letting go of our right to hold a grudge and choosing to release others from the debt they owe us. It’s not about excusing wrong behavior but about freeing our hearts from the chains of anger and resentment.
Jesus’ audacity to forgive is our model. If He could forgive those who crucified Him, how much more should we forgive those who have wronged us? When we forgive, we reflect His love and open the door to healing, for ourselves and others.
Forgiving isn’t always easy. It takes courage and strength. We might feel that by forgiving, we’re letting the person who hurt us off the hook, but in reality, we’re setting ourselves free. Audacious forgiveness doesn’t mean the hurt was justified; it means we trust God to handle justice and we choose peace over pain. When we embrace this act of bold faith, we align ourselves with God’s heart, bringing healing to our own lives and those around us.
Reflection Question:
Who is God prompting you to forgive, and how can you take a step toward letting go today?
