Hello First name / friend,

Happy Thursday!  I hope your week is going well.  I've been a little sluggish over here.  I spent the weekend in Wisconsin with my mom and sisters.  There are a lot of us spread out over the midwest so it was nice to pick a central location and have all weekend together.  So now I'm tired from poor sleep and I think I'm fighting off an illness.

I've slowly been working on getting the new Irish Chain pattern ready.  My quilter, Katie of Modern Textiles sent me this photo after it was freshly quilted.  I'm thinking this will be the cover quilt.  I went with a classic orange peel design.

RAINBOW SCRAP STASH QUILTS
Other than that, I've been adding more scrappy blocks to my rainbow Quilty Stars Quilt.  I started these blocks almost 6 years ago!  I don't have a lot of WIPs but this was one of them.

If you have been following along for a while then you have probably seen me make a rainbow scrap stash quilt.  I just love them!  It's a great way to use up all of the colors from your scrap stash.

Pattern - Quilty Stars
I've made quite a few over the years now.  I find them so fun and satisfying to sew up.

It can take a while to build up that scrap stash.  I just found this photo below from the first time I started sorting my scraps out by color.  Before this they were all mixed in one bin.  The scraps below were after about 5-6 years of quilting.

So if you are new…. just start collecting!  Because those of us who have been at this for a while know just how out of hand scraps can eventually get…lol.

Scraps became way more useful to me once I sorted by color.  And they are so pretty all sorted like this that I'm constantly tempted by them.  When the bins start to get a little full, then it's time for some scrappy sewing!

I absolutely love my scrap bins.  I got mine from Target but it looks like they are discontinuing them.  But I just did a google image search and these look like the exact same ones!  I think the Large size is the same as mine.  They even have one a little bigger if you have the space.

About those scrap stash quilts…. I sorted them out on my blog so if you want to take a look at the ones I've made then click on the image below.

FEATURED QUILT PATTERN
This week the featured pattern is Scrappy Arrows!  So another scrappy, stash friendly one.  I've had this one on my re-make list for a long time so I'm committing to starting one today!

Scrappy Arrows is a little like a choose your own adventure pattern.  You have choices and the pattern covers all of them.  If it looks a little overwhelming when you open it up, then just take one step at a time:
  • Scrappy Arrows or solid arrows
  • Scrappy background or solid background
You can mix it all to your hearts content.  The top quilt below is solid arrows with a scrappy background.  The one underneath is scrappy arrows and a solid background.

And then this neutrals one is scrappy arrows with a scrappy background.

There are also lots of sizes included from baby up to king.

My plan is to make a scrappy version using this fabric pull.  The low volume will be the background.
