Clearing Your Mind
Foggy brain, anyone?
Ugh!
Honestly, it’s one of the biggest challenges with perimenopause/menopause for us. All 3 of us can remember when our brain was sharp only now just can’t quite access that anymore.
BUT there are things we can do to help improve the clarity!
Really.
Let’s work on our brains!
First, all the things we mentioned last week apply here, too:
#1: Get into sunlight first thing in the morning
#2: Hydration
#3: Move your body
All of these actions will help you feel clearer. Learn more by reading last week’s email

Now, let’s talk clarity!
#1: Take a Break:
Did you know your brain naturally cycles down every 90-120 minutes? You have that much focus energy before you need to take a break to replenish. You only need about 5-10 minutes to be able to get back to it.
When we force ourselves beyond that window, our body has to release adrenaline to focus well which drains our energy (Read last week’s email for more!) AND makes it harder to focus.
#2: Improve Your Sleep:
Did you know your brain “cleans house” in Deep Sleep? Your brain cells shrink enough to allow the glymphatic system to send fluid between the cells to collect “garbage” and clean them out.
You want to cycle in and out of Deep Sleep a few times during the night for best results.
Here’s the thing, just because you stay asleep doesn’t mean you are getting Deep Sleep. The only way to really know is to get a fitness watch that can track it for you.
All three of us have the Lily Garmin watch and we love it!
#3: Exercise:
We know, a big fat duh, but stick with us. For best results throughout the day, take breaks for a quick stretch or walk. Really just move. Focus on breathing and relaxing.
It’s great to do during the break from #1 - it refreshes everything!
