Businesses that don't take regular inventory usually go broke.

You gotta know what you have, right?

But with ADHD, when stuff isn’t in our face…it can cease to exist.

Kinda funny, but if you've ever forgetten a whole ass person until you saw them again, you know what I'm talking about.

Quick shout out to the friends
who still love us when we
disappear for 6 months 💜

This week we’re gonna talk about discovery—i.e., taking stock of the assets and support you already have in your business—and kinda forgot.

TLDR on Discovery
  • If you don't know what you have, you can't use it.

  • Assets are anything that helps in your business.

  • You have more assets than you think.

  • Make an ongoing inventory / library

  • Reach out for specific journal prompts.

Discovery

You work in your business everyday. So, what assets could you possibly be forgetting about?

Let's take a look at:
  • Your tools / systems
  • Your people / platforms
  • Your content / copy
  • You / ADHD strengths
Take 4 sheets of paper (4 Google docs, etc) and label them like above.

Important: this doesn't have to be done in one sitting.

That's just overwhelm city.

Brainstorm a section a few minutes at a time. That's it.

You can jump around too—no rules here—you just want to end up with a full inventory when you're finished.

Systems and Tools

What systems and tools are you using to support yourself and your business?

No judgement here, you're just making a list. You'll sort it out later.

You can even include stuff like Spotify (I definitely do, I fucking love a good business podcast)

Examples:
  • Productivity: TickTick, Post its
  • Content:Notes app, Google Docs
  • Time: Toggl, visual timers
  • CRM: Air table, Hubspot
  • Invoicing: Quickbooks, Zoho, etc.

Your People / Platforms

Moving right along, even as a solopreneur you don't do business by yourself or in isolation. So look, at your people first.

Who are they?
  • business coach / mentor
  • body doubling partner
  • past clients / warm leads
  • a virtual assistant or OBM
  • helpful people on social
  • I even added my dog
Work wouldn't be the same without him…and dogs are people, right? 🐾

Next, think about your online presence…

What platforms are you on?

  • Social media
  • Podcast / radio
  • Your website
  • Email / newsletter
  • Product pages, etc.

Even if you aren't on it anymore, or rarely use it, write it down.

Your Content

Buckle up—this one can get hairy. But it's insanely valuable.

Take stock of your content. ALL OF IT. Including the pages in purgatory.

Content examples:
  • your Google Doc graveyard
  • launch copy / landing pages
  • testimonials / case studies
  • reels, carosuels, posts
  • newsletters, blogs, email
Yes, there's gonna be alot.

Remember: you don't do this all in one sitting!

But if you want to stop recreating the wheel and wasting tons of time creating new content each week — you've gotta know what you have and where it is.

For now, don't worry about sorting it.

But start a scrap library going forward. Your future self will thank you.

You

You (and your ADHD) are the biggest asset in your business.

Rest and Recovery
  • How do you take care of you?
  • When are you most energetic?
  • How do you stay motivated?

Your ADHD Strengths
  • What are your strengths?
  • How do they show up?
  • How can you use them?

Bringing It All Together
I know this feels like a lot—and it's because you have a lot of assets—which is a good thing.

But all you're doing here is collecting info and taking inventory.

There's literally no pressure
unless you decide there is.

Pro Tip: Don't decide there is.

This is a straightforward inventory, but if you're struggling to get started or get stuck on something, just reach out. I have specific journal prompts for each thing to help you get moving.

I'll see you soon.
Until then…

Inhale serenity. Exhale bullshit.
