A Few Finishing Touches

We’ve reached the final email in our 4-part video series, and I hope this month you're feeling a little lighter, developing your skills, and designing with more clarity and intention.

Here's a quick refresher of what we covered in the first 3 weeks:
Now, before you hit the download button, here are a few thoughtful finishing touches that can make your video shine.
🔊 Testing, testing - 1, 2, 3
Check + adjust audio levels so music supports your message instead of competing with it.
⏲️ Adjust the timing
In Canva, each scene and text element has a duration. If text flashes by too fast or a clip lingers too long, viewers feel it (even if they can’t name it).

A good rule of thumb:
  • Make sure text is on screen long enough to be read comfortably.
  • Shorten clips that feel slow or repetitive.
  • Let key moments pause just a beat longer than you think you need (you want everything to have room to breathe).
💡 Thoughtful timing creates ease. It helps your audience stay present, absorb your message, and trust what they’re watching.
👀 Take a final pass
Preview your video from start to finish — fresh eyes catch small pacing tweaks.

And, when you're ready, download the file as an MP4, which works on most platforms.
📱 Bonus step: Watch it on your phone
Most people will experience it that way, and it’s the fastest way to notice pacing issues.

Tip Tuesday takeaway:
Polished doesn’t mean perfect — it means thoughtfully timed.

Remember that clarity, consistency, and care are more powerful than perfection.

This week, let yourself share the imperfect video content your created and tag me @melissadorskydesigns if you want some extra love 💙

Psst - video isn't my favorite medium, either! If you'd be so kind, I would love more engagement on the few reels I've posted. 👇🏻

Until next time,
