Part 2: Cleaning what you put into your body
We are in the middle of a 3-part series:
“Detox Your Life”
1 - Clean up your home
2 - Clean up what you put into your body
3 - Clean up what’s already in your body
(Yes, indeed, we store toxins in our bodies.)
Last week we talked about cleaning up your home. We shared an easy thing you can do immediately as well as products to clean up your cleaning.
Now let’s look at cleaning up what you put into your body, our foods.
Look, here at SIMPLY :: the wellness place, we believe that there is room for everything in our diets…we like our wine and chocolate, too! There is no such thing as a quick answer without having “quick consequences” (like the quick weight that came off comes back quicker with a little extra to boot!). We are looking at slowly improving little things for long term benefits.
Tips:
Reduce processed foods: Shop the outer edges of your grocery store where you find whole foods.
Purchase as organically as you can afford: You don’t need to purchase all organic foods, scroll down to find out where in your budget you want to maximize your budget.
Wash all of your produce: Whether or not you purchase organic produce, wash everything and in more than just water. You want to find a safe soap for clearing toxins. We use Young Living’s Thieves Fruit and Veggie Soak.
Reduce sugar intake: The repercussions of sugar intake is well-documented. Of course you know you are eating sugar when you are enjoying dessert but also be aware that sugar is hidden in many processed foods as well.
Beware of chemicals in your skincare products: Did you know your skin is the largest organ of your body? It serves as the primary barrier against infections, regulates body temperature, and provides sensory input. What you put on your skin gets absorbed into your body which can then lead into the bloodstream.
Just a few ideas for you as you navigate cleaning up the toxins you are putting into your body…
