I know. There is a lot of 2020 left and this email may be coming too early. But I wanted to get you the 2021 daily goal tracker (linked here) because … well … if I learned one thing in 2020 it's that controlling what I can control matters. Setting a routine matters. Finding space for good habits matters. Doing something small matters.
I have a lot of reflecting to do on 2020 and a lot to think (dream?) about as we enter 2021. Over the next month, I plan to work through the four goal-setting steps I outlined last year. (I even made a helpful printable to organize my thoughts –– it's included in the goal tracker zip file.) If you would like to try this exercise, you can read (or re-read) about the steps right here:
STEP ONE : reflect back
STEP TWO : think about how you want to feel
STEP THREE : set your goals
STEP FOUR : pick your action items
You may be thinking, “Elise, I did this last year as you recommended and then everything fell apart.” To which I respond, “Same.” Last December, I told the internet that I wanted to feel “settled” in 2020. I can say with confidence I have never felt more “un-settled” than I have at many points over the past year.
And yet: I am excited to do this again. I am more humble this time around, but also more hopeful. Because, while we are still here –– regardless of the day or the year –– the chance to “begin again” remains. How wonderful.
