While in South Africa earlier this year, I created the Novant BIPOC Doulas site. With this new platform, folks in North Carolina who have chosen to give birth at a Novant hospital, and the physicians, clinicians, and caregivers who support them - can connect with BIPOC birth doulas who are Novant-verified. Every birth doula represented is an independent practitioner and works for their clients, not the hospital. However, their verification status welcomes support access (and familiarity) to otherwise prohibited spaces for doula support in Novant hospitals - such as: triage, PACU and OR rooms. Noteworthy: this kind of doula support access is rare at most hospitals in this nation.

And over the handful of months that we've been back stateside, in partnership with my husband (who gifted much time and effort in this - thank you Love) and through our company, Un.Tether, a business growth solutions firm, and in solidarity with Lugenia Grider, doula maven and co-developer of the Doula Impact Program with RAO Community Health, and with support from RAO - we have brought light to the presence of a wonderfully-educated and skilled cohort of Novant-verified birth doulas on the NBD site. There'll be more exciting details and news to come, but for now, please click on the button above or below to meet these incredible doulas who serve in Charlotte and many regions of North Carolina. Show them some love by sharing the site, connecting with them, and highlighting NBD to clients, patients, and folks you know.
