Hi, my name is Kris, I'm a Birth Doula, and I'm on call.

 

Nesting - an urgent energy and process of expecting mothers to get everything in order and ready for baby - is very common before birth. And I've found that it always takes dutiful residence in my life, right alongside my clients who are nearing. 

 

I revitalize my living spaces, create greater avenues for self-sufficiency in my home, highlight best systems for efficiency, and generally keep my hands full with what makes me feel rooted and prepared to show up for my birth and postpartum clients. 

That nesting often makes sleeping through the night an elusive past time. And even with my clients' phone numbers set to bypass any do not disturb focus - my body is the elevated gauge.    

I have dreams. Vivid ones. Mothers go into labor and I'm 

in real birthing spaces with real providers and I see visions of what birth may present and what my role may be in advocacy and in presence. And when the time has come, in real time - every time - I am awakened by a feeling, a spirit, that says it so. 

 

Even with all of the nesting I do, it remains a perpetual process, the labor of my life is always due. But without reservation, it is clear, that I am called to birth.
