Hello First name / friend

This is a watercolour page I created a year ago. It began as meditative brushwork, loosely repeating these shapes. The words that came to mind when I contemplated the painting were, “pockets of space for yourself.”

As I looked through photos for today's email, this journal page spoke to me. The week was a busy and emotional last few days of school for my two children. From meals, to sleep and exercise, to down-time, our routines quickly were out of order and space for myself was feeling slim.

There are weeks where you can think, "let's just get through this and then we'll sort things out next week”. And yet….here we are with two months of summer on the horizon and I will need to be very mindful in carving out space for myself in between the fun adventures.

We all experience busy times - both fun-busy and stressful-busy. It's so vital for us to recognize and honour that we need space for ourselves. Space to move. Space to be still. Space to think. Space to process events, thoughts and feelings.
This week I invite you to visually express (in painting, photos, magazine collage) what it looks like to create space for yourself. You can also reflect on this in words. I think the combination of imagery and words is powerful, which is why I love journaling so much.

And then, please, go into that pocket of space for yourself, if only for a few minutes a day. You deserve the time and space.

I'd love to hear from you in our online community. Please join us, if you haven't already and feel free to post!

       May you be well,
        -Nicole
